Bronwen Simmons
Bear Cottage
Passionate. Dedicated. Inspiring.
Families of children with life-limiting illnesses find respite, care and compassion at Bear Cottage. As Community Relations Manager, Bronwen Simmons brings together her local community to raise tens of thousands of dollars every year through initiatives that connect families, volunteers and supporters with Bear Cottage's care.
If Bronwen is successful, the grant will fund two Sibling and Parent Days and a Footprints in the Sand weekend for families, supporting therapeutic activities, connection and remembrance.
Mel Kypri
MoWaNa Safe Space
Compassionate. Supportive. Courageous.
Four evenings each week, MoWaNa Safe Space opens its doors to adults experiencing emotional distress, loneliness or difficult times. Mel Kypri founded the volunteer-led drop-in space to provide non-judgemental support, human connection and compassion for people feeling overwhelmed or in crisis.
If Mel is successful, the grant will support MoWaNa's move towards a seven-day, seven-night schedule, additional volunteer training, and a more permanent community support space.
Michelle Povah
Women and Children First
Humble. Determined. Caring.
For over 25 years, Michelle Povah has worked to create safety, opportunity and inclusion for young people and families. Now CEO of Women & Children First, she leads support for women and children affected by domestic violence, offering refuge and recovery. She also volunteers as a Girl Guides leader and brings senior leadership to the Australian Physical Disability Rugby League.
If Michelle is successful, the grant will fund specialist trauma-informed childcare in refuge programs, removing a key barrier for mothers seeking support.
