Meet our Westfield Local Hero finalists

David Pollard

PCYC NSW

Empowering. Respected. Committed.

In his work with NSW Police and Police Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC), David trains alongside young people in fitness sessions and runs behaviour-change and skills-building programs. He is committed to breaking down barriers between police and teenagers. As a former professional basketballer and now a Youth Engagement Officer, David champions early intervention for at-risk young people.

If David is successful, the grant will support projects that help at-risk young people and fund gym equipment for youth fitness programs.

Gail Ross

We Care Connect

Compassionate. Caring. Dynamic.

Thousands of children and families are given preloved clothing, cots and newborn essentials thanks to Gail Ross' work with We Care Connect. She volunteers four days each week, sorting donations and liaising with hospitals and community organisations. Her cheerful generosity lifts the whole team and keeps the support flowing.

If Gail is successful, the grant will fund community collection operational costs, covering transport, promotion, sorting, storage and volunteer support.

Sally Baker

Mary Mac's Place

Kind. Inventive. Inclusive.

Sally Baker helps ensure people experiencing hardship are met with practical support, dignity and compassion at Mary Mac's Place. As the centre's sole support worker, she works alongside 40 volunteers to provide more than 100 meals each day and connect people with vital crisis services and assistance.

If Sally is successful, the grant will cover Mary Mac's Place running costs, including utilities, food and operations that keep hot meals, showers and laundry services available daily.
