Meet our Westfield Local Hero finalists

Joanne Oliver

One Meal

Selfless. Patient. Caring.

Joanne Oliver helps run a volunteer-led weekly food service for vulnerable and marginalised people, distributing nutritious meals, groceries, toiletries, clothing and toys. Helping to restore dignity among dozens of people in the local community each week, her work extends to provide wraparound services including access to medical services and housing.

If Joanne is successful, the grant will support One Meal's move to a new service location, covering fridges, shelving, cupboards, van repairs, food purchases and security equipment.

Kate Pham

The WASH House

Dedicated. Kind. Resilient.

Through her work with The WASH House – a community resource centre for women in Blacktown – Kate Pham supports hundreds of women and young children affected by domestic violence. She provides a safe space, and organises support groups, counselling, legal help and activities for children.

If Kate is successful, the grant will cover essential costs for women leaving violent relationships, including rental bonds, moving expenses, safety modifications and household items.

Leanne Pearce

Feel The Magic

Empowering. Nurturing. Empathetic.

Behind the scenes at Feel the Magic, Leanne Pearce helps grieving children and families access the support they need. Her calm coordination and attention to detail ensure trauma-informed programs run smoothly, allowing clinicians and volunteers to focus on caring for young people who have lost a parent, guardian or sibling.

If Leanne is successful, the grant will fully fund one Family Day Camp for 40 bereaved children, covering facilitators, venue hire, volunteer support and safeguarding support.
