Sunday Trade Telethon Weekend Event
Since its inception in 1968, Telethon has raised over $94 million and provided much needed financial assistance to a significant number of charitable organisations, children's hospitals and research/medical facilities in Western Australia. The Telethon team vigorously fundraises across twelve months a year with a varied and exciting schedule of projects supported by commercial partnerships.
One of Telethon and Perth's biggest charity events is The Telethon Weekend live 25 hour appeal. This is held at Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and is televised on Channel 7 Perth and on the Golden West Network throughout Regional WA.
We're open Sunday 14 November for the Telethon Weekend
In 2010, Westfield is proud to sponsor Telethon in this huge fundraising event. All three Western Australian centres - Carousel, Innaloo and Whitford City - will be open on Sunday 14 November from 10am to 5pm in support of the Telethon Weekend.
You are invited to take part in Perth's largest charity event by visiting your local Westfield centre on this day. There will be stacks of fun and family entertainment, including Channel 7 celebrity appearances and performances, competitions, fundraising activities, plus Santa arrives to the centre in a fanfare of Christmas cheer. Join us on this special day and help make a difference to children's lives. More information will be available on our News & Events page soon.
The Telethon Weekend is a celebration of the dedication and commitment of thousands of Western Australians who support Telethon each year. This 26 hour continuous broadcast features Seven Network personalities from around Australia and leading Australian musicians and performers will make the trek to Perth for the weekend to appear on the show.
The Telethon Weekend event has grown to become the most significant television charity appeal in Australia; in fact, it is regarded as the most successful fundraising event per capita, in the world. In 2009 the Telethon Weekend raised $6,374,775 which was distributed to over 20 beneficiaries, including the Asthma Foundation of WA, Carers WA, Cystic Fibrosis Western Australia, Make-A-Wish Australia, Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Save the Children, plus many more.
